Kritamos (the plant used in this hydrolat) or Rock Samphire, is linked to Ancient Greece in many ways including the myths surrounding Prometheus and in Hippocratic medicine.
Its therapeutic values have been well-known since ancient times. Both Dioscoridis, the Father of Pharmacology and Pliny a renowned botanist wrote about its properties. Hippocrates recommended it for its detoxifying abilities amongst many others.
Kritamos is full of antioxidants and is useful in cosmetics too! It brightens age spots and creates a healthy glow on skin, is rich in iodine and is packed with phytochemicals that protect the liver, heart and cellular DNA. It is also rich in vitamins A, C, B2, B15, amino acids and minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, silica, zinc, managanese and vitamin D.
