On September 6, our Holy Church commemorates the miracle performed by the Archangel Michael in the Phrygian Colosseum.
In Phrygia was a temple of Archangel Michael, with the pious Priest Archippus officiating. Pagans of the area, were trying to divert the flow of an adjacent river, so that it would carry away and destroy the temple of Archangel Michael and drown the Priest Archippus and the faithful people of God. The faithful ran there every day to perform their religious duties and pray to the Lord Commander-in-Chief, for every problem he faced.
Seeing the vicious enemies of Christianity studying and planning their foolish plans, the pious Archippus on his knees, with tears in his eyes, begged the Commander-in-Chief of God night and day to prevent them from carrying out their abominable work.
Archangel Michael heard his prayers and acted immediately.
As soon as the pagans began to dig, to lead the rushing waters towards the temple, to carry it away, the Archangel Michael struck the rock with his divine rod, a little above the temple and opened a funnel, which sucked the waters and the he took out a little further, under the temple.
This miracle of the Archangel Michael is known as "the en Chonais miracle "
